You ever have one of those White Whale moments? Well, mine finally came true. Back in 2006 I saw a picture of H himalayana and it kinda blew a microchip upstairs. Such a beautiful tarantula, and originating from Nepal? Really? Sign me up. They have proven to be everything and more I could hope for. The gorgeous purple legs with beige banding, an ability to tolerate swings in temps and humidity and a very manageable 4.5″ adult size. Yes, please. Having gushed about all that, they seem to like temps between 74-82 and humidity of about 65%. They will threat display if you futz, so don’t think they’re all roses. If you’re a fan of the Old World, you need these in your life. Highly recommended for intermediate keepers.
