S. hoffmanni is yet another enigmatic oddity as not only is it the only representative of its genus, but it’s the only New World “horned” tarantula! Found in Costa Rica and some of the neighboring countries, these stout and stocky bruisers love to burrow and have a cone shaped button jutting from the center of their carapace. Adult size is about 5″, and they don’t care for most things including human interaction, so hands off! They grow fast and do well in captivity. Temps of 74-84 with 65% humidity will get you there. These aren’t available too often, so if they’ve been on the wish list, stop wishing and start dishing!
