The P. fortis is a woefully overlooked species in the Pamphobeteus genus. Sure they may not be as visually stunning as say P. plattyomma or P. “Machalla”, but they’re still an imposing 8″, with a nice cinnamon brown body color with purplish femurs, a carapace with a light purple wash and pink abdominal setae. Males still get the gaudy purple, so no worries there. They’re also fairly calm by Pamphobeteus standards and are a bit more tolerant of drier conditions, as least as juveniles. Spiderlings should still be kept humid. But for the size I have available, temps of 75-84 and 65% humidity will do the proverbial trick. I have decided to part with one of my girls and she was sexed via microscope.
