This superbly stunning West Malaysian wonder boasts the purple carapace, abdomen and femurs juxtaposed against light brown legs from the patella downwards. This two-toned coloration is quite unique and as a result, C. hoggi has become one of the more desirable Asian tarantulas. C hoggi gets around 5″ and as a rainforest species appreciates temps of 76-84 and humidity of 75% at least. They must also be able to burrow. While not as defensive as Haplopelma species, C hoggi will bite, so please don’t flex the beer muscles and try to handle it late one night.
